Op-ed: Jason Whitlock, here's why you're wrong about BLM, KKK

There seem to be a lot of people on the right and in the right-wing media who are condeming the violence on both sides. This is a weasely way of avoiding the truth. The violence was promulgated by right wing fascist types in Washington on 6th January and basically wherever violence was seen during BLM protests across the country. This is not a both sides issue, it is a one side stirring up shit everywhere they go issue.

Relatedly, ANTIFA is not a group. It is a political and social position -- anti-fascism. Those that are pro-fascism have to make ANTIFA sound like something it is not. Perhaps this is because it is a pretty hard sell to be pro-fascism or to proclaim that one is not anti-fascism.

Carrying on this train of thought, those people who are upset that Joe Biden called them white supremacists during his inagural address have just outed themselves as white supremacists.

50-year study of tax cuts on wealthy shows they always fail to "trickle down" | Salon.com

This message needs to get out to everyone. Particularly the temporarily embarrassed millionaires. Until this basic truth is understood and acted on, things won't get better for most people.

The truth about Ihumātao: All the false claims and misinformation, corrected | The Spinoff

Because I was not born and raised in Aotearoa, I was not enculturated in the ways those who were. When I shifted here in 2013, there were some things that were similar to what I was used to, but much that is very different. Since then, I have made many Māori friends and have had the opportunity to learn from their perspectives.

This is article deals to falshoods put out there against Māori working to right past wrongs. It is worth noting, because I suspect the same false arguments will surface again in future.

EDIT: So it turns out that these falsehoods are continuing to make the rounds. I heard about them from NewsTalk ZB via my neighbor. Turns out it is really easy to play on someones racism and stoke anger by spreading lies. Good for ratings too. ARRRRRRGH.

Agents raid home of fired Florida data scientist who built COVID-19 dashboard

First they asked her to cook the numbers. Then they fired her. Then she built a new dashboard. Now they raid her home pointing guns at her and her family. The Florida government is  afraid for people to know the truth about the pandemic.

Nearly all Black Lives Matter protests are peaceful despite Trump narrative, report finds

The news is full of stories about the riots. The truth is a little different. Not much rioting going on in the first place. In the second place, there seems to be a lot of violence instigated by non-BLM protesters - for example: federal agents, police, and racist vigilantes. Same story, different decade. Rinse and repeat. When will it no longer be necessary to protest against bigots?

'Choice between health and economy is a bit of a false dichotomy' - Phil Goff | RNZ News

In this statement there is a heap of truth. It clearly indicates that there needs to be a nuanced arguments put forth for various plans of action. Here we seem to be doing a reasonably good job, hence the mayor of Auckland making this statement. This is not the case in many other countries.

Kushner -- A Cheap Movie Villan Knock Off?

1 min read

I have a theory that Jared Kushner (like many of the characters in the Trump inner circle) is a cheap knock off of a fictional villan. The movie Hudson Hawk came out when Jared was 10 years old. Is it possible that he saw this movie and fancied himself the super rich sociopath Darwin Mayflower? Sounds like a posh white 'merican upper class name.... Every child must have aspirational goals.

If Jared was a brilliant self-made billionaire, he might come off as more than a wanna be Darwin Mayflower. The truth is less flattering. See below.

Plus when people say 'Boys will be boys' they smear good men who don't do this shit and give permission to those that do. All this needs to stop.
